Hey, bookworms! Welcome to my first-ever Bookish News Report. I'm your host, Ashton. 😂😂 In this post, I'm going to address the most awesome (to me, at least) bookish stuff happening this month. First up...
Most Anticipated Releases:
1. I have to start out with War Storm. I am so excited for the last novel in the Red Queen series! I cannot believe how King's Cage ended. Does anyone else think Mare's reaction was a bit uncalled for? Anyway, I cannot wait to get this gorgeous game-changer.
2. Onyx and Ivory
Traitors, princes, and dragons, oh my! Since I first set sight on this book, I was captivated. I'm a sucker for a good dragon story and fugitives (it's weird, I know), so I can't wait for this book!
3. Lifelike
I just recently learned about this book, and it sounds pretty good. I still have a thing for dystopians, so the premise of this new novel sounded interesting to me. Plus, I really enjoyed Illuminae, so consider me excited!
4. The Smoke Thieves
"A princess, a traitor, a hunter, and a thief."
Hehe sign me up.
5. Game of Secrets
What?!?! This is the third book this month! Assassins are my jam, guys! And characters with magic abilities? Yes, yes, a million yeses!!! I'm going to be buying a lot of books this month.
6. Royals
This looks like an adorable read! I personally love when the main character falls in love with a prince, but we all know that doesn't really happen, sadly. But true love can happen, and I'm excited to see what happens in this book.
7. The Beast's Heart
By now, you probably know how much I love Beauty and the Beast, so this new retelling sounds pretty interesting. And the excerpt gives a good first impression of the writing, as well.
8. Furyborn
When I first read the description for this book on Goodreads, I was immediately so excited! However, I read an excerpt on BookishFirsts and I was not as impressed as I wanted to be. I'm sincerely hoping this book lives up to my initial expectations, and I'm definitely going to read the rest at some point and see.
9. The Bone Roses
I'd honestly never heard of this book before this post, but when I did some research on May YA releases, the cover looked like something I would like. The premise sounds pretty interesting; what with kingdoms, romance, and a Western theme, not much could go wrong.
10. Brightly Burning
This sounds very similar to Across the Universe, but I might give it a try. It sounds like an enjoyable read, and though I am unfamiliar with the story of Jane Eyre, the idea of a Jane Eyre retelling in space is appealing.
My Reading Plans:
I am usually a mood reader, but last month was a little... hectic. So, with a little random selection, I chose my next book as Spindle Fire and then Velvet Undercover. Honestly, it's kinda nice to have a schedule for once 🤣.
The 100 Season 5 premiered last week! Do you guys watch it? The first three seasons are ok, but the fourth is absolutely amazing! Season 5 has so much potential, and I'm so excited to see where it goes!
Oh, and is anybody excited for The Darkest Minds movie?!?! 'Cause I am!!!!!! I am more excited than you can possibly imagine. Is it just me, or does the movie look a lot different than the book? Oh, well. It's coming out August 3rd, so be ready!
Au revoir, my fellow bookworms!
